Years of research and development have culminated in the creation of high-performance paper feed rollers that combine a unique rubber blend with advanced tribology theory and a radical surface shape. These rollers exhibit minimal friction coefficient degradation and maintain consistent performance even in challenging low-temperature, low-humidity environments. Designed to handle a wide variety of paper types, including coated papers and those that generate substantial paper dust, they continue to perform reliably. The two-layer structure (sponge and solid) provides a high friction coefficient while maintaining low hardness, addressing noise issues that were once common in the industry. Yamauchi utilizes EPDM with hardness ranging from 20 to 45 (A) for our paper feed rollers. This material, developed using our proprietary formulation technology and extensive expertise, delivers a high friction coefficient retention and outstanding abrasion resistance. In addition to standard rolls, we also offer mass-produced belt-shaped samples to meet various customer needs. For applications requiring even greater abrasion resistance, such as high-speed machines, we can use polyurethane materials. Yamauchi provides a diverse selection of materials tailored to customer specifications, ensuring optimal performance across a range of applications.
Two-Layer Rollers Solve Common Issues with Precision Manufacturing
Our two-layer paper feed rollers are crafted with a sponge layer on the first and a solid layer on the second, using materials of varying hardness. Thanks to our advanced production techniques, we can mass-produce these rollers with exceptional dimensional accuracy. This design effectively addresses long-standing noise issues, offering a quieter, more reliable performance for customers.
Innovative Surface Geometry Based on the Tribology Theory
The accumulation of paper dust on rollers, particularly with high-dust-content papers, reduces friction and affects performance. To solve this, we leveraged extensive test data from joint research with external institutions to develop a unique surface geometry. This geometry includes grooves that trap paper dust and a surface-shaving mechanism that “refreshes” the roller. As a result, the roller maintains a high friction coefficient and superior durability.
